A struggling writer, Jo March, returns home from New York to nurse her sister Beth who is seriously ill. With a series of jostling, vibrant flashback scenes from adolescent life, the creative trials and emotional tribulations of four sisters are retold. An energetic ensemble, including Saoirse Ronan and Florence Pugh, revive the lives of the March sisters on the cusp of adulthood.

Fresh from the success of her directorial debut with Lady Bird, Greta Gerwig recreates Little Women, with a light and confident touch. Adapting the original text of Louisa May Alcott with creative verve, Gerwig conjures an enchanting, multi-layered version of this much-loved classic of 19th century literature.

A must-see drama for those who like to paddle their own canoe.

Greta Gerwig brings the entire March family to life like never before in a respectful but bracingly current version that couldn’t be more perfectly timed. One-hundred-and-fifty-year-old literature never felt so alive.
