Deptford Cinema and Baltic View (http://balticview.online/) are proud to present a season of documentaries from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The New World (2011)
A new world needs new heroes.
People call them crazy hippies, but they call themselves the New World Society. At first, all they wanted was to change their neighborhood into a peaceful, car free zone. But their wishes grew and their methods changed. The film follows four years of the society’s fight against city officials and angry neighbors, the growth and wane of the youth’s energy and new beginnings.
This is the anatomy of a revolution: a story about young people, relationships, and growing up.
The film was selected as the Best Film of the Year by the Estonian Film Critics’ Association in 2011.
This season of films has been brought to us by Baltic View with support from The Ministry Of Culture Of The Republic Of Lithuania.
