Running Man website image.jpg

Description:The year 2019 is here and with it comes societal changes, emerging cultural views and breakthroughs in technology that we’ve never seen before. Or have we? A spate of 1980s-produced science fiction films chose to establish their milieu specifically in the year 2019, and Deptford Cinema will be showing the best of them to see where the filmmakers got their predictions right. After each screening we will be holding a party at the cinema and want to see you in fancy dress. Come looking like how these films thought you would be dressed now! The season starts with the Arnold Schwarzenegger action classic The Running Man. Set in a 2019 where politics and entertainment are intertwined, the film accurately predicts the world’s obsession with reality shows,voice-activated smart homes, and omnipresent companies no longer masking their true intentions. Wear your Adidias branded jumpsuits for the show is about to begin...
