When a mysterious monster emerges from the Han River in Seoul, a snack bar owner - Gang-du - and his family are forced to fight back. Fearing the worst when his daughter is captured and carried away by the unidentified creature, Gang-du gathers the remaining members of his family and sets off to journey deep into the sewers in a bid to rescue her.  Premiering at the Cannes film festival and breaking all box office records in Korea, The Host remains one of the best-loved films of director Bong Joon-ho (Memories of Murder, Mother, Snowpiercer, Okja).

Also showing as part of this season: Oldboy, A Tale of Two Sisters, Save the Green Planet, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring, Woman is the Future of Man

The defining monster movie of the 21st century... Bong Joon-ho’s monster-sized masterpiece feels more relevant than ever
— IndieWire
Uproarious... beautifully and even subtly made... the Ballardian nightmare of the anarchic monster playing havoc with the cool, rational technopolis is always riveting
— The Guardian
A gleefully scary romp... the movie pops up out of nowhere, grabs you in its big, messy tentacles, and drags you down into murky depths, where social satire coexists with slapstick, and B-movie clichés mutate into complex metaphors
