The film tells the story of Kayla (played by Elsie Fisher in "a raw, radiantly generous performance" - Variety), an introverted teenage girl tries to survive the last week of her disastrous eighth grade year before leaving to start high school.

This is the feature debut from Youtuber/Comedian Bo Burnham who went on to win the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding First-Time Feature.
