After a long pandemic-induced hiatus Deptford Cinema is back screening films. Whilst we seek a new permanent venue, we have entered into an exciting partnership with Deptford Lounge and The Albany to show a season of carefully curated films over the coming months as some COVID restrictions are lifted and we can again begin to enjoy cinema as a social experience. All within the beating heart of Deptford!
Our penultimate screening this summer is Andrea Arnold's epic road comedy-drama AMERICAN HONEY (2016), part of our film programme in partnership with the Albany and Deptford Lounge.
All our screenings at the Albany and Deptford Lounge follow COVID social distancing and safety regulations. See below for further details.

Join us for a sexy summer road movie with a big heart.
Looking to escape from an abusive homelife and a desperate situation, Star joins a group of travellers, young people who are living on the edge of society, resorting to selling magazine subscriptions and petty crime to survive. We follow Star’s search for both independence and belonging amongst these young rebels on a dreamy ride through several American states.
Arnold found her actors by ‘street casting’ non-professionals, spotting Sasha Lane on the beach during the American spring break. The pay-off for Arnold’s vision is an outstanding and intimate performance by Lane playing the troubled but brave Star. American Honey was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Jury Prize.
