ALMOST HEAVEN + Q&A WITH DIRECTOR CAROL SALTER

almost_heaven_-_publicity_-_h_2017.jpg

Winner of the Best Documentary award at the British Independent Film Awards last year and a double nominee at the Berlin Film Festival, Almost Heaven follows quirky, innocent Ying Ling, an ambitious 17 year-old girl far from home, struggling to overcome her sense of displacement, alienation and fears of death as she trains to become a mortician in one of China’s largest funeral homes. A modest but powerful film on the major questions of life, death, work and adolescence, this is an intimate, tender and life-affirming portrait of a young woman on the cusp of adulthood.

This screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Carol Salter.

Screening as part of Deptford Cinema's Silk Road Film Club strand.
