PASS THE PORTRAIT #6 - PAUL HAMMOND (TINTYPES)

PASS THE PORTRAIT is a one night photography event hosted every few months in THE CORRIDOR gallery and bar space at DEPTFORD CINEMA.

Be the subject in a one night portrait project by our Photographer in Session. The bar and gallery space will be open, exhibiting the previous event's portraiture.

In exciting news, our next photographer Paul Hammond will be shooting tintype portraits. Invented in the 1850's, the tintype is an early photography technique valued for the level of detail and clarity, which uses the collodion process to create a 'positive' image on a thin black sheet of metal. Using 'tin' as the support for the photography emulsion it becomes coated, immersed and sensitised in a silver nitrate solution and then exposed and developed while the emulsion is in its wet form and before the plate dries. Due to the nature of the process as well as being the subject you'll be able to see how the image is created from start to finish.

After you attend, make sure to come back to the following PASS THE PORTRAIT exhibition to see how your portrait came out and see what our next Photographer in Session has planned in the space.
